St Austell Brewery and St Austell Brewery pubs have been at the heart of Cornish life for almost 160 years. Founded in 1851 by Walter Hicks, who mortgaged his farm for £1,500 to set up a brewery to serve workers in the thriving fishing, farming and mining communities in the Duchy, today St Austell Brewery operates an award-winning pub estate in Cornwall, Devon and the Scilly Isles and brews some of the South West's most popular beers.
